This is an ecumenical group which meets each Thursday in term time at different venues. Although based in the Pilgrim’s Chapel of the Minster, it also meets sometimes in the Pastoral Centre of Our Lady of Victories, or at Sacrista Prebend. It is an informal group which welcomes visitors from local churches, or those just visiting the Minster who feel in need of a quiet time.
Each term, we ask members of the group or a visiting speaker to lead a short meditation, which is followed by a period of silence. We meet at 12.30pm, and at 1.00pm a time of open prayer is introduced, which is a time for prayer for our world and prayer for those who are ill and in need.
This quiet time is followed, for those who wish to join together, by a picnic lunch, where the conversation is lively, thought provoking, and most of all enjoyable, often with much laughter.
Those of us who are regular members value this meeting together as an oasis of peace and quietness in the middle of a busy week. We would be delighted to welcome you if you would like to join us, either on a one-off basis or more regularly. There is a small subscription for regular members, to cover costs.
The subscription for the term is £3, which includes tea or coffee, donations for our venues, and a book token for visiting speakers. After our meditation in the Pilgrims’ Chapel, we take our packed lunches to Trebeck Hall, otherwise we are at Sacrista Prebend or Our Lady of Victories.
