NEWS FROM THE CHURCHES, GROUPS AND LINKS MAY 2025
HOLY TRINITY CHURCH Julie Barker
Jon & Ella are settling in well and have their hands full following the safe arrival of baby Zachariah. Please pray for sleep (more of!) & a feeding routine to be established.
Our Wednesday older people's midday lunch and activities (Connections) continues during the holidays, with Moments (Dementia cafe) and Living with Loss (supporting bereavement) monthly.
Brownies continue to meet in a Monday evening & Youth cafe (actually kids year 3-6) on a Tuesday evening. We are continuing to plan for an older group to start in the autumn term. The cafe has steady numbers attending, averaging about 23, most of whom are not regular church attendees.
The Toddlers group continues to attract high numbers of children (50 ish). We have a monthly family fun afternoon on the 3rd Sunday of the month.
We contributed 4 volunteers to the Collaborate holiday club (see separate report).
Other groups include the monthly Men's breakfast (with speaker), Ladies group
Our church AGM takes place on 30th April 730pm. We will be electing our PCC and wardens. Please pray for guidance here.
Re Pentecost Lighthouse prayer, we have agreed to co-ordinate the worship for the Pentecost service on 8th June and will be covering 2 of the night shifts during the 10 days of continuous prayer.
Some of us will be attending Awaken in August at the lincs Showground. This is run by the Ground Level group of churches with which Riverside Church are linked.
SOUTHWELL BAPTIST CHURCH Barry Westbury
A church profile document has now been completed and approved by the Church membership. This has now been submitted to Head Office as we continue on our journey to recruit a new minister.
We have just commenced a seven week study on the book of Daniel conducted by our very own Arderne Gilles
We have just completed another Quennenial Inspection Report (QiR) which has highlighted further issues with the building which will require remediating over the coming months. Grant applications are being prepared for this. VAT for repairs over the last year has successfully been claimed back from HMRC
