“Thy Kingdom Come” 10 days of prayer for Southwell and Farnsfield
“Thy Kingdom Come” is a global ecumenical prayer movement, now in its 10th year. Through Churches Together in Southwell, all 7 churches in Southwell together with St Michael’s in Farnsfield have come together as one Christian community to pray 24 hours a day for the ten day period between Ascension day - Thursday 29th May and Saturday 7th June. We will then meet for an ecumenical service on Pentecost Sunday 8th June at 9:30am at the Southwell Minster to celebrate all that God has done, and is in the process of doing, in the lives of our families, friends, colleagues and the wider community that we have been praying for.
We will have a ‘Prayer Room’ set up in the Methodist Church in the centre of Southwell by the Saracens Head Hotel. The ‘Prayer Room’ will have a range of prayer stations together with guidance information to support people in their prayers. Each church has a person assigned to help people to book one, or more, hour long prayer slots in the Prayer Room.
In Mark Chapter 2 we read of four people bringing a paralysed person to Jesus in the hope that he will heal them. The crowds prevented them from going in to the house where Jesus was, so they made a hole in the roof and lowered the paralysed person down! Jesus, seeing the faith of those four people, healed the paralysed man. May we be inspired to use this 10 day period to put our faith into action by lifting others in our community before God in prayer so that their lives may be transformed.

Churches Together in Southwell plan to set up a 24-7 Prayer room running during Thy Kingdom Come 2025, Ascension to Pentecost, 29th May to 8th June. Our steering group has support of and representation from all the churches leading in Southwell. We have identified a central and welcoming venue - final confirmation pending.
A 24-7 Prayer room is a creative prayer space that enables a chain of unbroken day and night prayer, bringing friends, communities and churches together to seek the presence of God. Its a place of journeying and encouragement. God is always with us - but when we set a space aside specifically as a place to meet with him, He loves to answer our invitation.
We aim to have an online virtual prayer room running in parallel (with a camera link if possible) so that those who can’t leave home, for whatever reason, can join in. See the resources section below.
Why? God asks us to!
Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.
Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Practicalities & requests.
For Churches: Keep praying, publicising & encouraging your families to to get excited about what God wants to do in our community. Support
church representative in every way you can. Identify members who may wish to get practically involved in the organising or setting up.
For Individuals: Save your dates - set aside special times during this period, day or
night, when you want to meet with God in prayer. Use your networks
to spread the word - we want everyone to have an opportunity to
encounter God’s love and blessing.
