Southwell Churches Healing Group

Aims

Southwell Churches Healing Group has three main aims:

  • To pray for individuals, families and situations needing God’s healing and wholeness
  • To extend and support a Christian healing ministry in Southwell within and between the churches
  • To collaborate with others in seeking the wholeness of individuals, families and situations, in particular with statutory and voluntary health care agencies

Activities

  • Prayer meetings on the first Tuesday of each month—and continuing prayer in between, needs and concerns usually being communicated by email—the meetings are conducted informally and are led by a different person each month; all are very welcome to take part (please see Events for times and places of meetings).
  • Occasional workshops for training in Christian healing and for sharing experience, concerns and ideas (these usually conclude with an ecumenical healing service—please see Events).
  • A small resource base of up to date materials on Christian healing, which are available to individuals and churches.

Where are we going?

The group has been in existence in its present form for approximately four years. During that time, prayer at and between meetings has been the group’s main ministry. We have been encouraged that our prayers, along with those of others, have been heard, and have led to healing of body, mind and spirit. We have held four workshops for members of Southwell and other churches, and have ideas for developing the healing ministry locally.

We would love people to get in touch and explore whether you might like to become involved. Our ministry is in Christ’s name and power, and seeks to follow his example and obey his command. We believe strongly that an ecumenical healing ministry is both a powerful witness and a means of healing divisions between churches.

Meetings

Meetings take place on the first Tuesday of the month, start at 7.45 for 8.00 pm and finish at 9.30 pm. They are normally held at the home of Audrey Stokes, 1 Greet Park Close, Southwell.
